I am from musical instruments from kitchenaid and making bread I am
from the tile floors at moms to the wood ones at dads but the cock-a-doodle-do of roosters at both
The constant noise from the kids running or the smell of sage
I am from the garden in the yard, the bottlebrush tree whose long gone limbs I remember as if they were my own.
I’m from circle before dinner and the dimple that we all seem to have on our cheeks
from My nana , my mom and dad
I’m from Biting my nails and our tendency to forget holidays and
From our love for food from loving to make it to just love to eat.
I’m from do or do not there is no try and i ain’t lying, I’m tellin you a story and Your never fully dressed without a smile
I’m From making tamales during the holidays that make the whole house smell like peppers, I’m from the little Spokane river that we used to catch crawdads in
and from Papago to Viking and Homemade tortillas
From mom's stories of her role playing vampires with her friends from in the forest to the city's when she was in high school the thinking chars that are somehow both rough and sofft, the fairy books that i used to read all the time as a kid, and my great grandma's comal that we still use everyday.
I’m the living room, on the shelf, and on the stove
